![]() It is important to adjust to the demands of the virtual world and different time zones but it’s also important to be in your zone. Work with your recruiter to find slots that help you succeed. Some of us are morning people, some prefer day time and some evenings or even late night. Your friends and well wishers can keep you away from these negative thoughts and add to your confidence. Best to let them out than to keep them inside you. Nervous energy, doubts and insecurities can creep in during the long winded process. Having some folks to talk to during the long process of preparation and interviewing can be really helpful. #7 Open up to your friends and well-wishersĪ lot of us prefer to be lone rangers while interviewing. There is no easy way to do this but you owe it to yourself to first accept that this might be the case with you and secondly, find ways to solve for this. This might affect you psychologically and eventually affect not just your prep but also your actual interviews. The added pressure certainly does not help. The fact that you are looking for a job probably means that you are going through a bad time in your current org. Sticking to a set of branches that you read previously can be suicidal. Remember, each question can deviate into multiple branches. Originality of thought is critical to answering any further line of questioning on the initial question. Each question has multiple possible answers and any deviation from the pre-read answer might catch you off guard. It’s tempting to follow and repeat the answer you read earlier, but it could actually be counterproductive. With so many videos, Q&A portals and even paid subscriptions to prep platforms, there is a good chance that you will encounter a question you have seen before in an interview. ![]() It’s okay to borrow ideas on sample plans but always customize! To each their own! Create a plan as per your schedule and need. Discipline goes a long way in training your mind. In this post-pandemic world, your virtual personality has become increasingly important and if there are areas of concern, then those need to be addressed on priority! With the virtual only format nowadays, a large part of your real world personality is cut out from the equation. #3 Dont let the virtual interviews get in the way of your personality It does two things - gives you actual interview experience and secondly, opens up other career options. Rather, open yourself up to multiple companies other than Google that are in your consideration set and give real interviews. With a couple of mocks I did, I felt like I ended up spending too much time with too little genuine or consequential feedback. Infact, they themselves are as clueless as you. Honestly, I am not a fan of such mock interviews because you are mostly mock interviewing with strangers who may or may not make it eventually. There are numerous resources like the Lewis Lin slack channel or the peers on IGotAnOffer that help you find partners to do mock interviews with.
